Food Waste Activist
Nikki is co-founder and Managing Director of REfUSE C.I.C.: a social enterprise based in Chester le Street dedicated to reducing the tremendous amounts of food waste. REfUSE runs a community café, a food box scheme, a social supermarket, a catering business and an education initiative all dedicated towards achieving their mission.
All the food that they collect and redistribute would otherwise have been sent to landfill by supermarkets and food retailers: 10-13 tonnes food is redistributed every month. The café and supermarket operate on a ‘Pay As You Feel’ basis allowing anyone to use them, paying in money, time or skills.
